When I first saw the view from the driveway of my cottage I knew that I had to buy the property, it didn't matter what the cottage looked like. In the five years I have lived here, not being able to wake up and see the water has bothered me.
Now it is time to fix that problem! Unfortunately, everyone involved says that in order to do this correctly, the old cottage must come down and a new one built. Yikes!
I am going to try blogging while I go through this process, explain the pitfalls, the expense (and I think that is going to be huge!), the decisions, as well as post pictures as we move along.
This week, after having the engineering studies completed, preliminary drawings revised, and many hours of thought as well as much hand wringing done, we are about to sign on the dotted line.
Please join me as I travel down this road, I would appreciate any comments and suggestions you might have! I plan on building only one cottage in my lifetime, this better be good.
super fun! and scary! and exciting! and stressful! and amazing!

We will follow it all from our home nearby and stand ready to supply support and a stiff scotch whenever needed. Judy and Dave
ReplyDeleteWOW - I always knew you were on the cutting edge of everything!!!! Is there a way to somehow put the specs on this site so we can see what your new "baby" will sort of look like? Even from France, I still want to know. And BTW - you are officially invited to Villa La Corniche after November 1. :)
ReplyDeleteAll I can say my long time friend is HOLY SHIT. For once you are doing something for your self and not others. You deserve a dream home and I look forward to following this fab, adventure with you. You live once, have money once so enjoy every minute and penny spent. The view will be awesome.....miss you so.
